Safa Muhammed

The Success Story of an HCI Sponsored Orphan in India

In 2010, Safa’s family suffered a tragic loss: their father’s passing from kidney failure.

Working as a tailor in Malappuram District, Kerala State in India, he earned a small wage. It was enough to keep his family safe and happy.

Safa was only 11 years old, and her father was the only breadwinner of the family.

Now, Safa’s family has changed drastically.

The family’s entire responsibility came to her mother’s head. She does not have any income to meet family expenses. This made the family financially unhealthy.

For two years, Safa’s family lived in poverty, with the occasional help of kind people. However, that was neither stable nor continuous support.

In 2012, a local social worker traced the family at this critical time and reported them for assistance.

The turning point to success

Safa’s family received sponsorship, which was an incredible burden relieved. Through sponsorship, Safa’s mother was able to easily make the demands needed for Safa’s education. Safa is now studying in her first year of secondary school at W.I.C Higher Secondary School.

Safa is now a 17-year-old happy girl living her dream for a better future.

Without a doubt, your support played a crucial role in achieving her educational dreams. With financial backing, Safa can now focus on school. She earned an average of 95% in her grades and in 10th class public examinations.

Safa also participates in extracurricular activities and has won many prizes from school competitions.

“Words are often inadequate to express my joy for your help. For sharing my dreams, for your invaluable help, support and patience, I say thank you.”

HCI has been proudly serving the Muslim community for 40 years, and through your generosity and support, our programs are continuously improving the lives of many vulnerable people. Each donation made enables us to further the mission of taking impoverished people from crisis to sustainability.
