Children and Hospitals Affected in Gaza Bombing

Al Durra Paediatricians Hospital in Distress

On the morning of December 26th, 2020, Palestinians in the Gaza strip were awakened by missile strikes, resulting in severe damage to the Al Durra Hospital. It serves as a pediatric children’s hospital, and a rehabilitation centre for the disabled found northeast of Gaza.

Local media advised the bombings injured two civilians-including a child under six years old.

The strikes also caused widespread power cuts and shattered the windows of some residential buildings.

As a result of physical damage and exposure to gas from the explosion, children at Al Durra Hospital struggle to breathe. Human Concern International is working on getting ventilators in place to reduce damage to already vulnerable children.

The Gaza Strip is densely populated and facing enormous hardships due to poverty.

With winter already in full swing, civilians continue to struggle to survive. Challenges with deteriorating health status, loss of electricity and unstable home environments make this situation dire. HCI is covering the medical expenses of Palestinians affected. Civilians who have lost their homes will be relocated while HCI works to recover the buildings’ damage.

With your help, we can continue to stabilize their future and get through this winter.

Human Concern International responds to emergencies on the ground immediately. Our aim is not just short-term relief but the long-term sustainability and empowerment of communities.
