Patch up Missed Obligations With Charity

In the event that you are unable to fast for any days during Ramadan, you will be obligated to offer a form of charitable compensation. Fidya must be paid for missed fasts that were necessary and cannot be made up later.

Nevertheless, if you missed fasts unnecessarily, you will be required to pay Kaffarah. The funds collected are used to distribute food aid to those in need across all regions where we have programming.

Mercy Abounds

Fidya and Kaffarah are both charitable donations given by Muslims as a form of compensation for missed or broken fasts during Ramadan. Fidya is usually given when a person is unable to fast due to illness, pregnancy, or other valid reasons. The donation is meant to provide food to those in need, and it is calculated as the cost of two meals for each day missed.

Kaffarah, on the other hand, is a donation given for deliberately breaking a fast without a valid reason. In this case, the donation is intended to provide aid to those in need, and it is calculated as the cost of feeding 60 people.

The donations collected are used to distribute food aid to those in need across all regions where we have programming. The goal is to provide assistance to those who are less fortunate and help them to observe the holy month of Ramadan.

Fidya and Kaffarah should be paid as soon as possible after Ramadan, but they can be paid at any time. However, it is recommended to pay them promptly to fulfill the obligation and ensure that the needy receive the necessary assistance.

If a person is unable to pay the full amount at once, they can pay in installments or give food equivalent to the cost of the donation. The donation should be given to the poor and needy, preferably before Eid al-Fitr, the celebration that marks the end of Ramadan.

It is important to note that Fidya and Kaffarah are only required for missed or broken fasts during Ramadan and do not apply to other months.
