In this blessed month of Ramadan, we fast from dawn to dusk, experiencing a fraction of what millions endure daily — thirst. But for countless communities, access to clean water is not just a temporary challenge; it’s a relentless struggle.
Water is more than a necessity — it’s an act of continuous charity, Sadaqah Jariyah, offering blessings that flow long after you’ve given. When you provide clean water, you don’t just quench immediate thirst; you create a legacy of health, hope, and dignity for generations to come.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“The best charity is giving water to drink.” (Ahmad)
Consider this: 1,000 children die every single day from diseases caused by dirty drinking water. Entire communities are trapped in cycles of poverty and illness because they lack access to this basic resource.
Your donation this Ramadan can change that. Every drop you help provide becomes an enduring source of relief, offering spiritual reward and tangible impact — a true Sadaqah Jariyah.
When you give the gift of clean water this Ramadan, you help:
Human Concern International (HCI) works tirelessly in drought-stricken and impoverished regions to deliver clean water to vulnerable communities. We collaborate with local partners to build sustainable solutions, ensuring that every well, filtration system, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) program continues to benefit generations.
Charity holds immense value year-round, but during Ramadan, the rewards are multiplied. By giving the gift of clean water, you not only provide immediate relief but secure countless blessings for yourself and your loved ones through the continuous reward of Sadaqah Jariyah.
Let your fast be a reminder of those who thirst year-round. Transform your compassion into lasting impact this Ramadan.
While a donor may choose a water well in Asia or Africa, we cannot guarantee that we can fulfill requests for a specific country in two continents as we build wells where most needed. A donor may share their preference with us along with their receipt via email at [email protected] and we will try our best to fulfill their request; however, we cannot guarantee that they will be accommodated.
The price to build a water well is $5,000 in Africa and $1,500 in Asia.
HCI currently has water well projects in Kenya ($5,000), Somalia ($5,000), Bangladesh ($1,500), India ($1,500) and Pakistan ($1,500).
Yes, you may add an inscription of up to 25 characters to your water well. Please share your donation receipt along with your inscription with us via email at [email protected]
It takes between 6 to 8 months for well construction to be completed. This timeline excludes the pre- and post-construction phases, which should be noted. Please also note that unforeseen situations such as weather conditions, political unrest, and travel restrictions in the countries where we work can impact this timeline and may result in further delays.
Yes, donors will receive photos of their completed wells and in some cases videos and construction photos of wells while they are in progress.
Shallow water wells with hand pumps, which are most of the HCI’s water wells, have a lifespan of about 8-15 years.
