Donation Policy

Donation Policy – Human Concern International (HCI)

At Human Concern International (HCI), we recognize that donors entrust us with their contributions to support humanitarian aid and global relief efforts. We are fully committed to managing these funds responsibly, ethically, and transparently to ensure they are used for the intended charitable purposes.

HCI prioritizes fund allocation based on donor preferences and designated projects. When a donor specifies a particular country or initiative, we strive to direct the funds accordingly. However, in cases where specific projects may no longer require funds due to unforeseen circumstances—such as a program completion or regulatory restrictions—HCI reserves the right to reallocate donations toward other high-priority initiatives that support vulnerable communities. This ensures that every contribution continues to make a meaningful impact where it is most needed.

How Funds Are Used

HCI’s donations support a wide range of humanitarian initiatives, including:

  • Emergency Relief – Immediate support for disaster and crisis-stricken regions.
  • Healthcare & Medical Aid – Providing access to essential medical services.
  • Food Security Programs – Distributing food to underprivileged communities.
  • Education & Sponsorships – Funding schools, scholarships, and child welfare programs.
  • Sustainable Development – Investing in long-term solutions to poverty and economic disparity.

Our annual reports and financial statements ensure complete transparency regarding fund distribution and impact.

Donation Refund Policy

Can a Charity Return a Donor’s Gift?

According to Canadian charitable laws, once a donation is made, ownership is legally transferred to the charity, meaning that refunds are generally not permitted. Registered charities, including HCI, must use all donations strictly for their stated charitable objectives.

However, in exceptional cases where an error has occurred—such as an incorrect donation amount or a duplicate payment—HCI may consider refund requests on a case-by-case basis. If you believe an error has been made with your donation, please get in touch with our donor support team as soon as possible to discuss the next steps. See the Canada Revenue Agency for further details.

Transparency & Accountability

At HCI, we believe in full transparency with our donors. To maintain trust, we:

  • Provide detailed financial reports outlining fund distribution.
  • Work closely with auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance.
  • Offer donors the opportunity to receive updates on how their contributions are being used.

HCI remains dedicated to upholding the highest ethical standards in managing charitable donations. Your generosity enables us to continue making a lasting impact on communities in need.
