Human Concern International (HCI) welcomes today’s ceasefire announcement in Gaza, marking a critical chapter to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis and begin the rebuilding process. The people of Gaza have endured immense hardship, with thousands of lives lost and essential infrastructure destroyed. The immediate priority must be providing life-saving aid to the most vulnerable and ensuring long-term recovery efforts that restore hope and dignity to those affected.
Since the beginning of the crisis, HCI has mobilized significant resources to provide aid to the people of Gaza. We have delivered essential medical supplies, food, clean water, and emergency relief to families in need. Our teams on the ground continue to work tirelessly to address urgent needs, including supporting hospitals, delivering critical medical treatments, and ensuring that displaced families have shelter and protection, especially during the harsh winter weather. We have also been actively engaged in reuniting families separated by the conflict.
Looking ahead, HCI is committed to scaling up our efforts to meet both immediate and long-term needs in Gaza. In the coming days and weeks, we will be working to deliver additional aid, including food packages, hygiene kits, and medical equipment, to support hospitals and communities.
We urge the Government of Canada to play a leading role in the next phase by collaborating with Canadian NGOs to provide immediate humanitarian relief and commit to the long-term reconstruction of Gaza. Canada must prioritize the delivery of life-saving aid, rebuild essential infrastructure, and support initiatives that promote peace, stability, and family reunification in the region.
As a Canadian NGO committed to humanitarian efforts, HCI stands ready to work with the government and other partners to ensure that Canada’s response is impactful, sustainable, and focused on the dignity and well-being of those affected. The road to recovery will be long, but with a coordinated approach, Canada can be a leader in supporting the people of Gaza and helping them rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
