Human Concern International: Supporting Gaza’s War-Affected Families through Comprehensive Aid

The crisis in Gaza has left a lasting impact on thousands of families who’ve been forced to abandon their homes, navigating through a haze of uncertainty. As airstrikes continue to tear apart neighbourhoods and vital services collapse, many are left displaced and struggling to survive without access to essentials like food, water, or healthcare. The trauma runs deep, particularly for children and caregivers whose lives have been shattered by war.

In the face of this immense crisis, Human Concern International (HCI) is stepping up to provide lifesaving support to Gaza’s medical evacuees in Egypt and Turkey. HCI’s comprehensive programs focus on mental health, financial assistance, shelter, education, and ongoing medical care to help families regain their footing and begin the long journey to healing.

The Many Ways HCI is Making an Impact:

Healing Little Heroes: For children evacuated to Egypt, recovery from conflict-related injuries is a long and delicate process. HCI provides them with ongoing medical treatment, ensuring they have the care they need to recover physically and emotionally. With constant monitoring and tailored treatment plans, these children are allowed to heal fully and regain their strength.

Healing Beyond Wounds: The psychological toll of war cannot be overlooked. Children and their caregivers carry invisible scars from their trauma. HCI’s Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS) offer a crucial lifeline, helping these families cope with grief, anxiety, and the uncertainty of their future. HCI is committed to restoring hope and stability by providing counselling and emotional care.

Finding Stability in Chaos: HCI provides secure, temporary housing for families displaced to Cairo and Al Arish. These homes offer more than shelter—they give a place to rest, recover, and rebuild safely. By eliminating the constant worry about where they’ll sleep, families can focus on healing and begin to envision a future beyond displacement.

Restoring Dignity and Independence: Displacement has left many families without a source of income. HCI addresses this financial instability by providing monthly stipends to help with essential needs like food, clothing, and utilities. This assistance not only eases immediate hardships but also gives families the financial freedom to regain their independence.

Continuing the Journey of Learning: Conflict has disrupted the education of Gaza’s children, but HCI ensures that learning never stops. Through informal education programs and by providing tablets, HCI is helping children stay academically engaged. These programs offer more than knowledge—they bring a sense of normalcy, routine, and hope, allowing children to dream of a brighter future despite the chaos around them.
