As winter’s frosty grip tightens across Canada, the plight of people experiencing homelessness intensifies. While many of us can seek refuge in our warm homes, many individuals are left to brave the harsh realities of the streets. In this challenging situation, HCI’s local initiatives, centered around distributing winter kits, offer a glimmer of hope.
Across Canada, HCI’s projects are about building a community that cares. These initiatives, driven by the community, aim to do more than just offer temporary relief. They strive to provide essential resources that can genuinely transform the lives of those experiencing homelessness, offering them a chance to survive the harsh winter nights.
One such initiative is taking place right here in our community. Led by passionate volunteers and supported by local partners, the winter kit distribution project is funded through donations from individuals and businesses and grants from local government and charitable foundations. This ensures that every dollar donated or contributed goes directly towards helping those in need.
Human Concern International is the oldest Muslim relief organization in Canada, fighting poverty for over 40 years.
