Human Concern International (HCI) strongly condemns the cowardly and heinous attack by Israeli police on Muslim worshippers inside Al-Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.
This act of violence is not only a blatant violation of the fundamental right to freedom of religion and worship but also a clear indication of the political motives of the far-right Israeli government to incite violence and provoke tensions in the region.
The recurring pattern of violence by Israel during the holy month of Ramadan has caused a devastating humanitarian impact on the Palestinian people. Year after year, the Israeli government has incited violence against Muslim worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque, leading to further escalation and attacks in the region.
The Palestinian people have been subjected to an unbearable humanitarian crisis, displacement, and trauma, which violates their right to live in peace and security. The ongoing conflict has resulted in a dire humanitarian situation, with many Palestinians facing food and water shortages, limited access to healthcare, and a lack of basic necessities. The international community must take urgent action to promote a peaceful resolution for the sake of the innocent civilians who are caught in the crossfire.
The Palestinian people must finally receive the justice, dignity, and respect they deserve, and Israel must be held accountable for its acts.
The attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque is unacceptable and must be unequivocally condemned by Canada and the international community. We call on the Israeli authorities to respect the sanctity of religious sites and the rights of all worshippers, and to take immediate steps towards de-escalating the situation.
